Server / Bar Support

Lobby Bar — Castro District, San Francisco

Lobby Bar is looking for a friendly, energetic, and dependable Server / Bar Support team member to join us. We’re a craft cocktail bar and restaurant in the Castro focused on great drinks, great food, and creating a welcoming space where everyone feels comfortable.

This is a hands-on role. You’ll take care of guests while also helping keep the bar and restaurant clean, stocked, organized, and ready for service.

What You'll Do

- Welcome guests and create a friendly, inclusive atmosphere

- Take food and drink orders accurately using Toast POS

- Have a working understanding of cocktail terminology and ordering, so you can confidently communicate guest orders to the bar

- Understand common martini preferences and terminology, including gin vs. vodka, dry, extra dry, dirty, extra dirty, shaken vs. stirred, up vs. on the rocks, twists, olives, and other common modifications

- Help guests navigate the cocktail menu and answer basic questions about ingredients and drink styles

- Deliver food and drinks to tables

- Check in with guests throughout their visit

- Pour and serve wine, beer, soda, and other non-cocktail beverages

- Clear and bus tables promptly

- Reset and prepare tables for incoming guests

- Run food and assist bartenders during busy periods

- Keep water stations, service areas, glassware, napkins, utensils, and other supplies stocked

- Restock beer, wine, mixers, beverages, and service supplies as needed

- Help maintain clean and organized dining, bar, service, and guest areas

- Wash or polish glassware and assist with dishes when needed

- Complete opening, closing, and side-work responsibilities

- Help keep the restaurant operational throughout service rather than waiting to be asked

- Communicate closely with bartenders and kitchen staff to keep service running smoothly

- Follow responsible alcohol service and food-safety procedures

What We're Looking For

We’re looking for someone who:

- Has previous restaurant, cocktail bar, or hospitality experience

- Has experience using Toast POS or strong familiarity with a similar restaurant POS system

- Has a good working knowledge of classic cocktails and cocktail terminology

- Understands how to properly take a martini order, including the questions needed to get the guest exactly what they want

- Is warm, outgoing, and genuinely enjoys working with people

- Is dependable and arrives ready to work

- Can stay organized while handling multiple tables and priorities

- Notices what needs to be done and takes initiative

- Is comfortable working in a fast-paced craft cocktail environment

- Works well as part of a small team

- Understands that keeping the space clean, stocked, and operational is everyone's responsibility

- Is comfortable serving alcohol and checking IDs

- Can safely carry trays, dishes, glassware, and supplies

- Is available for evening and weekend shifts

Compensation & Schedule

$20/hour + pooled tips

This is a part-time position with evening and weekend shifts. Tips are pooled among eligible team members.

About Lobby Bar

Lobby Bar is a neighborhood craft cocktail bar and restaurant in San Francisco's Castro District. We combine thoughtfully made cocktails and food with a relaxed, welcoming atmosphere. We're also an LGBTQ+ history bar and a space for everyone to mingle, drink, eat, and learn.

We're a small team, so everyone contributes. There isn't a "that's not my job" mentality here—we help each other deliver a great guest experience and keep the bar running smoothly.

Position: Part-time Server / Bar Support

Pay: $20/hour + pooled tips
